The Basics: You’ll be surprised to hear that not everything in Hollywood is lights, magic, glamour and pretentiousness… there’s also a dark, stark and dissident side to it, you just have to look for it. Fortunately, it’s closer than you would think. Just a few feet away from the busy and oh so glamorous Hollywood strip you’ll find a cool and chic late night bistro/ lounge tucked away by The Avalon. Perhaps because of its location you’ll feel as if it’s isolated from the rest of the joints around. “Honey” is a good place to grab a bite and a drink before, during or after a show at The Avalon. This late night bistro lounge has a chill environment, its slick and contemporary décor also gives it a sophisticated yet classy vibe and look.
What to drink: At “Honey” they have a huge wine selection, so if you’re into wine, you’ll go bananas. Their mixed drinks are alright, pero nada del otro mundo; however, their mojitos are worth raving about- tienen buen sabor y están medio fuertecitos.
What to eat: If you’re like most of us alchies, después de una noche de toxinas se antoja comer algo rico, and while most of the time the hot dog stand at the corner will do it, no siempre es la mejor y más saludable solución.
Fortunately, “Honey” is open til the wee hours of the night por lo que puedes llegar y ordenar de su menú de aperitivos toda la noche- antes, durante, o después de la parranda.
What makes “Honey’s” appetizer menu from the rest is that other than the “typical” selections you’ll find other fine dining-like entrees at a modest price.
Alongside old time favorites you’ll find crab cakes, which are a little on the bland side; some awesome pita bread; pretty good BBQ Teriyaki skewers; but the king of appetizers at “Honey” is undoubtedly the risotto and cheese balls- which is seriously more addicting than crack.
