Lo chido de ser latinos y vivir en un país como los United States of America es que we have everything a nuestro alcanze, especially when it comes to food. Los antojitos y las fritangas are a essential part of our “menu”, and an item that’s always popular, son las empanadas. Now, just like tacos and tortas, empanadas are quite simple to make, however, not every place knows how to properly make them- they’re either too greasy, they don’t have enough fillings, or they’re just plain nasty. At “Empanadas Place” you don’t have to worry about anything going wrong with your empanadas since they make them to perfection. En este lugar sirven solo empanadas… and while “original” Argentinean empanadas are baked, the ones at this joint are deep fried, pero no por eso dejan de ser originales… plus, 90% of the population agrees that when something is fried it tastes better… sure, it may not be healthy, pero eso sí, sabe de-li-cio-so.

Following the hole-in-the-wall tradition, “Empanadas Place” is a small cozy place conveniently located in El Lay. This joint has a friendly and inviting atmosphere; its simple décor and tango inspired posters make it a chill place to grab some grub.
Por si fuera poco, el servicio es buenísimo. The staff is beyond friendly, and overall it’s a very enjoyable experience.
“Empanadas Place” definitely embodies the true spirit of a small family run business.
Empanadas everywhere!
Lo chido de este lugar, es que es un restaurante dedicado a las empandas al 100%. Sure, they have a couple non-empanada items such as a side salad and a sándwich or two, but their forte are definitely the empanadas… hence the name.
“Empanadas Place” makes empanadas fresh from scratch for every single order, so you know for a fact that you won’t be getting an empanada that has been sitting in the counter, mosqueandose por horas… no, you get them straight out of the frying pan.
They have meat empanadas, vegetarian empanadas, and of course sweet empanadas.
For starters, you must know that the empanadas at this place are not the miniature schmuck that you usually find at other places… they’re actually good sized, well worth the $2.99 fried, flakey, moist, succulent and deliciously filled empanada.
One of the most popular items on the menu at “Empanadas Place” is the empanada criolla. It’s hard not to fall in love with this empanada- it has ground beef, raisins, green onions, egg, and tons of spices.
Another empanada that’s not as popular as the previous one but just as yummy is the spinach empanada- this one has a spinach concoction along with mozzarella cheese and a white sauce that result in a creamy and tasty empanada.
Encontrarás de todo un poco, empanadas de maíz, pollo, res, broccoli, papa, and everything you can imagine.
“Empanadas Place” is definitely the ultimate place to get your empanada fix. Not only are they fresh and they’re made until you order them, but the dough is not too thick, and while they’re fried, they’re not extremely greasy. The empanadas at this joint are great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner… plus, they also make a great appetizer for parties and stuff.
