The Basics: While many times we’ve deemed the saying “never judge a book by its cover” to be rather useless, it comes in handy when checking out this joint. “DiPiazza Restaurant & Lounge” in Long Beach is one of those restaurant/ lounge places in which the façade or lack thereof can either attract curious party goers or scare them away. For starters, “DiPiazza” is located in a rather questionable part of the LBC, y por si fuera poco, “DiPiazza” looks like a dive bar.  Sin embargo, once you step inside, you’ll discover that “DiPiazza” is a low key and cozy place to relax. Its intimate and dark setting makes this joint a great local spot.

Unfortunately there is a cover charge, which varies every night, but don’t trip- it’s never more than $10 bucks. Aunque puede sacan un poco de onda por cobrar a la entrada, the live music makes up for it. Almost every night, “DiPiazza” hosts different rock/ punk/ alternative/ indie local bands.

What to drin
k: Although there’s a fully stocked bar, beer seems to be the most popular beverage- there’s beer for everyone, but the “Sierra Nevada Celebration” ranks on top of the list.  If you’re not big on beer, their “Screwdrivers” are the bomb.

What to eat: Even though “DiPiazza” doubles up as restaurant and as a lounge, the restaurant part of this joint is fully functioning during the day but dipiazza pizzaonce it switches into lounge mode, the restaurant is still up and running, however, it takes the passenger seat, thus serving less than stellar food.

It’s not that the food served at “DiPiazza” is bad, sino todo lo contrario… it’s good for being bar food, but it’s bar food nonetheless.

Their menu is filled with pastas, salads, burgers, pizza and a few generic appetizers.  While they have a rather bulky menu, their pizza is the way to go.

Aunque no es nada del otro mundo, it’s still tasty since it’s made right there and then with all fresh ingredients: fresh dough, garlic, basil, red onions, peepers and even imported pepperoni.  Their Hawaiian, and pepperoni pizzas will do the trick, they taste even better después de un par de chelas.
