The Basics: So summer came and went and you never got a chance to take that tropical escapade?  Ponder no more and head over to “Bahooka”, a lounge so tropically kitschy it kind of works.  This place is the king of all things tropical outside of Hawaii.  Just taking a look at their drink menu will be enough to tropicalize you, they have: the Blue Hawaii, the Piña Colada, the Hurricane, the Zombie, and many others. Regardless of what you order, your drinks will either come with the mandatory paper umbrella, pineapple spears, maraschino cherries or some fire- literally.

In spite of their frilly and somewhat girly appearance, the drinks are strong.Something that makes this place unique is the décor- inspired in a ship wreck reminiscent of Gilligan’s Island. There are even several illuminated aquariums filled with fish—as pets—to admire and occasionally, you can almost hear The Beach Boys’ music in the background.As if that weren’t enough, the outside-of-LA location makes it even more appealing for those that have had it with the L.A./ Hollywood attitude, pretentiousness and faux hipsters.

Hours: Monday-Thursday 11am-9pm, Friday-Saturday 11am-10:30pm, Sunday 11pm-9pm
