The Basics: Formerly known as “Table 8”, this joint changed “formats” and went from a high-end, upscale lounge fine-dining restaurant to a high-end, upscale burger joint. Aunque a primera vista el cambio no puede ser tan notable, this joint is definitely different than before.  The décor and the ambiance itself are more relaxed.  Everything is chill yet still manages to be modish.  The décor highly contributes to the atmosphere at “8oz Burger Bar”: pressed tin ceilings, eco-friendly concrete floors, large black leather banquettes, and an indoor patio that opens to Melrose Ave. – perfect if you’re into people-watching.

“8oz Burger Bar” is definitely not the place go on a date since there’s hardly anything romantic about it… if you go with your cuates, esa es otra historia.  This is a chill joint to grab a chela and stuff your face with some yummy finger food while you enjoy some juicy chisme.

What to drink
: If you’re into beer, ya la hiciste pero si bien hecha en “8oz Burger Bar” since they have a wide selection of beer and beer pairings to go with your comida.  If you want some good old liquor they have a couple of drinks that will blow your mind, and get you tipsy at the same time.

Their Sidecar is a little bit tangy but it has a good kick to it, it has Brandy, Cointreau, fresh lemon juice and fresh orange juice.

Si se te antoja algo diferente y medio exótico, you must try the Moscow Mule, odds are you’ve never had anything like that:  Vodka, ginger puree, fresh lime juice, and ginger ale.

What to eat: If you ever had a chance to visit “Table 8” back in the day and loved their food, don’t even trip since the same chef is in charge. Executive Chef Govind Armstrong brings the pizzazz and the sizzle to the menu.

There are several unusual appetizer options on the menu, none of that generic mumbo jumbo found in every other lounge/ restaurant menu.

8oz burger bar slidersThe mini Kobe corndogs are a nice and tasty choice, they come with a side of purple mustard that will leave you wanting more. One order of these will definitely not be enough.

The deviled eggs make a rare but well received appearance on the menu; a modern take on an oldie, with smoked paprika and all.

Now, there’s an item in the appetizers menu that just by reading it made me want to barf: fried olives.  I don’t know many people that are fond of olives, there’s just something fishy and icky about them that not even a martini makes them appealing. However, the fried olives at “8oz Burger Bar” are stuffed with chorizo. Don’t think twice about it and order them… an interesting flavor and an unexpected exquisite taste.

You can’t go to “8oz Burger Bar” and not try a hamburger.  A safe choice is “The 8oz”, it comes with a ton of lettuce, pickles, tomato, onion and a special finger-licking sauce. Now, the meat on this burger will trip you out. It’s a house blend with sirloin, trip-tip, short rib, and chuck cured in a Himalayan salt-tiled locker. Definitely a new take on burgers.
