International Posters for Peace, Social Justice & the Environment

Poster from The Luckman GalleryWho ever said world peace is overrated? It’s not only up to the future Miss America wanna-be’s or the airhead participants of Miss USA to wish for peace and such.  Artists have done their fair share of this fight for social justice throughout the year, and even though they don’t get as much attention as these pageant contestants do, they actually have an impact on society.
Since October 27 the Luckman Gallery in Cal State Los Angeles is showcasing this exhibit.  The themes include dissent, liberation, racism, sexism, human rights, civil rights, environmental and health concerns, AIDS, war, literacy and tolerance; all of them collectively providing a window to an age of great change.
This exhibit includes 111 posters that demonstrate the social, political and aesthetic concerns of many cultures towards the aforementioned issues.
In here you will find works by Lorraine Schneider, Tom Ungerer, Ester Hernandez, Seymour Chwast, Gran Fury, Lex Drewinsnki, Fang Chen, Felix Beltran, Yossi Lemel, Andrew Lewis, among others.
