C E R A S O L I Gallery is proud to present new art by Matt Phillips, Mario Wagner, and Seth Curcio. Every gallery in this venue will host a complete exhibit by each artiste. While all three of them have completely different styles and aesthetic, the one thing that brings them together is the fact that they are displaying the same kind of art: collage. While most current exhibits throughout the area focus on paintings and photographs, these three-for-one exhibits at C E R A S O L I gallery come like a breath of fresh air just in time for the summer.
On Gallery One, Matt Phillips will be showcasing his “Out Through The In Door” exhibit, in which he cleverly coalesces oil painting and collage on canvas. His stile is very linear, yet full of texture. Phillips plays with contrast which can be clearly noticed throughout his collages, since they come across as both proper and quirky.
Mario Wagener will be presenting “Some Are Here And Some Are Missing” on Gallery Two. Just like Phillips, German-born artist and illustrator Mario Wagener works on canvas but instead of using rigid and playful contrast on his collages, he utilizes 1960’s and vintage images, filled with color, shine, and lots of girls. Mario Wagner’s style is more on the surreal life, yet it manages to evoke nostalgia.
“Beyond A Shadow” on Gallery Three, is the latest exhibit by Seth Curcio. “Beyond A Shadow” is perhaps the most interesting and innovative out of the three exhibits. While Curcio uses the more “traditional” collage technique, his usage of Xerox and laser copiers, billboard pasting, enamel paints, and screen prints, make this exhibit old-school yet contemporary.
