Karl Ferris: The Psychedelic Experience

By October 14, 2008Edúcate

The Psychedelic ExperienceMr. Musichead Rock Art Gallery didn’t declare themselves to be a place “where music meets art” for no reason.  Proof of that is their upcoming exhibit featuring the works of 60’s photographer Karl Ferris: “The Psychedelic Experience”.   If the name doesn’t sound familiar, fret not! Odds are you have seen at least one of his pictures. His work has been featured in album covers by artists like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Cream, among others. Like the exhibit title implies, it’s all psychedelic art by Karl Ferris- perhaps one of the biggest names in that branch.

“The Psychedelic Experience” is not only and exhibit to showcase the most famous as well as some unseen works by Karl Ferris, but it also serves as an commemoration to the 40th year anniversary of the release of Jimi Hendrix’s “Electric Ladyland”- whose cultural defining cover was created by Ferris.

The interesting thing about this exhibit is that it’s not only photographs, you’ll also be able to check out multimedia video and even a slide show focusing on other “psychedelic” experiments.

A must-attend trippy experience for all Hendrix fans, art junkies and music aficionados alike.
