Four Months In Heaven

Four Months In HeavenThe Ambrogi Castenier Gallery is proud to present “Four Months In heaven”, the latest painting collection by artist/ playwright Vahe Berberian.  Although he is very successful on the playwright department, most recently with his play “Baron Garbis”, Vahe Berberian returns to the brush, canvas and the drawing board.

For this exhibit, Vahe Berberian keeps things abstract and very hard to decipher.  At times the audience might feel the need to compare “Four Months In Heaven” to a kid’s notebook- not because of its lack of complexity but because of the cryptic passages, incoherent words and images that only he can decipher.

While it may be hard to figure out what Berberian is saying, it’s not hard to tell the talent behind such works.  Even though they are complicated in concept, visually they are minimalist and abstract sometimes reminiscent of cave drawings, in many cases somewhat raw and honest.

“Four Months In Heaven” follows Vahe Berberian’s period of isolation and how he copes with his inner demons and his solitude.  What happens when you leave an artist all alone with nothing else but himself and his imagination?  In Berberian’s case, you get “Four Months In Heaven”.
