Despite our love for all things Star Wars (minus episodes 1, 2, and 3 which we’re still refusing to acknowledge outside of this parenthetical statement and without a brand, spanking new makeover), we have to admit that we were surprised to hear that J.J. Abrams had anything to be disappointed by in the movie.

Certainly he couldn’t be upset with the film’s gross, which passed $2 billion a couple weeks ago. Nor could he be upset with the general reception as the movie garnered a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes and an 81 on Metacritic.

I mean, certainly there were those who ultimately ended up with their complaints, but that was to be expected when you’re making a movie that people are seeing multiple times in theaters, which generally is a good sign. We also weren’t entirely without complaints, but overall approval has been pretty high.

So…….what? What in God’s name could have been so terrible that JJ had to come out and say that he had made a mistake? Well, it turns out that the mistake was actually something noticed by the fans that he agreed with and that lies in the fact that Leia hugged Rey instead of hugging Chewbacca after finding out that Han Solo was dead.

Star Wars TraitorThat b…… terribly insensitive person! She goes and hugs Rey, a girl she’s barely met (*possible spoiler alert*) someone who could possibly be her daughter that she doesn’t recognize due to a mindwipe from Luke or a different reason that makes no sense (*end possible spoiler alert*) instead of her husband’s best, and probably only, friend, who she likely would have grown closer to while they were married!

Admittedly, there are worse things that could have happened, but considering that Mr. Abrams has come out and admitted it was a mistake leads me to believe that it’s more than likely that the possible spoiler alert is now a little less likely to be true. It’s even still less likely despite his admission that both are strong with the Force and would have already known about each other, but even then, there’s no Obi Wan Kenobi-ing going on where they’re communicating telepathically in advance to even suggest that to be the case.

So that’s all folks, JJ Abrams has admitted that he unintentionally slighted Chewbacca, we’ll probably get an edited Blu-Ray that removes him from the scene entirely, and still have to wait for Episode 8, which apparently be far less secretive than Episode 7, as per Director Rian Johnson.
