At first listen, Lilo’s “Estupida No Soy” single might scream ‘pop rock’. But at closer listen, you’ll be able to hear that’s there’s more to the track than catchy pop hooks. Actually, there’s far more to Lilo and to her recent album, Te Quiero Confesar, from which the single spun, than meets the eye ear.
Lilo has depth. She’s the type of musician that enamors audiences. Be it her onstage presence or the energetic guitar riffs that accompany most of her music, she has the chops to make a name for herself in the cutthroat music business. This was proven on May 28 at the historic Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles where the singer served as opening act for Mexican sensation Jesse & Joy.
Presenting the catalog from her debut album, Te Quiero Confesar, Lilo lit the Wiltern stage with a performance that delighted the audience. “Estupida No Soy” and the singer’s cover of “Call Me” by Blondie were among the crowd favorites.
Panning the audience you could see posters with Lilo’s name, proving that in her short career the young musician has succeeded in establishing a strong following of fans. Although many opening acts are often overshadowed by the headlining act, in this case, Lilo was an added value to the show, delivering an energetic element to the evening.
The gig was part of her first American tour, which took the musician to stages in San Diego, Anaheim, San Francisco and Las Vegas. “I’m a little sad that tonight is the last date,” said Lilo during a press conference minutes before she took the stage. “But we had fun touring and I’m very proud and happy with the experience.”
The first in her family to dabble in musicianship, Lilo, born Linda Lopez, fell in love with music with only five years of age. She picked up violin at age seven, took singing lessons throughout the years, and eventually made the move from Orange County to Mexico to pursue her music career and work on Te Quiero Confesar. The album is out now and Lilo couldn’t be more satisfied with her journey—a happiness she shares with her fans by giving them energetic music that leaves them wanting more.
