Son LocuazRooted in a classic rock style and accompanied by profound lyrics of life, love and progressive change, the North Hills based group, Son Locuaz, continues to rock the Los Angeles independent music arena after having undergone a major line up change. Originally fronted by Alberto Marines, Roman Lopez on drums, Rei Fernandez on low frequencies and Paul de la Cruz on guitar, the band was ready to say goodbye to the stage when Marines was forced to leave the band due to personal reasons. Soon enough, word of their break up got to German Briseño, who at the time was fronting L.A. local band, Los Burbanks. Fast-forward to four months later and now with Briseño fronting the band, Son Locuaz prepares to record a debut EP that is set to be released early next year.

Packed in what will be a bilingual four-track album are “Poca Cosa”, “Enfermal”, “Fire” and “Teach me to Kill”. “Poca Cosa” and “Enfermal” are songs in Spanish that were composed when Marines was in the picture but that now with Briseño’s musical influences, have been tweaked and rearranged to better fit the style of the current lineup. With Marines, “Enfermal” was charted #8 by the internationally noted Radio & Records, which was subsequently also the last time that R&R charted an “Alternativo” artist. “Fire” and “Teach me to Kill” are the two English tunes that will close off the album and that weigh heavy with Briseño’s rocked infused influences.

In the four-month span as a band, Son Locuaz has shared the stage with indie-faves Pastilla and South Gate skankers Chencha Berrinches, and has also performed as an opening band for Las 15 Letras at one of Al Borde’s Acoustic Sessions.

An overseas and southwest tour is currently being negotiated for Son Locuaz, which will serve as the band’s out-of-Cali debut, taking them directly into Europe and Japan as well as into Arizona and Texas.
