el ogrito the ogrelingThe 24th Street Theatre proudly welcomes to their stage “El Ogrito”, the Spanish adaptation of “The Ogreling” by Canada native Suzanne Lebau. This also marks the debut of this play on the U.S. of A., making it an even more special event.  “El Ogrito” is a full-length play completely en español, of course with English super-titles being projected for the Spanish-impaired.  Bring your whole familia to check out this awesome play that will leave you flabbergasted… a fairy tale meets a coming of age story with a fascinating twist.

“El Ogrito” tells the story of a mother (Julieta Ortiz) taking care of her son Simon (Gabriel Romero), which happens to be half ogre, hence the nickname Ogrito.  Even though he’s barely six, he’s a toweringly large kid for his age… aside from that, he has to deal with the many issues of being half ogre, which his mother has protected him from exploring since its so morbid and horrible.

Follow these two characters as they embark in a journey where both of them realize the power of unconditional love and overcome the challenges of accepting human nature.
