Macholandia

macholandiaSan Pedro’s Gallery Azul is proud to present “Macholandia”, a hell of an art exhibit by Long Beach local Jonathan Bueno.  Even though the title of this exhibit pretty much gives you a good idea of what to expect, you’ll be surprised to find that Jonathan Bueno used a different approach.  While “Macholandia” refers to the world macho, the exaggerated sense of masculinity and its commentary on Mexican culture, Bueno steps away from what’s expected and instead of perpetuating stereotypes, he utilizes painting and drawing to give a different meaning to machismo and the way women are allegedly viewed in Mexican and Latin American culture.

With “Macholandia” not only will you get to see some badass and interesting art, but if you go the opening on July 2 at 6pm, you’ll get to hear an upbeat acoustic set by River Jetti. Or if you attend the formal grand opening on July 18th you’ll get to hear some awesome music by DJ Pur One and DJ Chee Bo, plus an intense music set by Assembly of Mazes.

“Macholandia”, apart from having a badass title, is a great exhibit to check out and support local talent… una muy buena exhibición de arte que le encantará a los art aficionados de hueso colorado.
