Elevate LoungeAddress: 811 Wilshire Blvd
              Los Angeles, CA 90017
              Phone: (213) 236-9600

The Basics: Elevate is a great place to go dancing or just to have a drink and enjoy the view. In Downtown L.A. 21 floors up, with panorama-heavy wraparound balconies, this lounge is offering competition for the nearby Standard. Friday nights seem to be the best time to go.  The place had a cool dance floor, great views and chic atmosphere. There's glass along the initial part of the balconies and at first you’ll think I continues all the way up, but you’ll be  delighted to see that it doesn’t and instead you’ll find  an open-air lounge.

Pick of the Week: Green Door Print E-mail

Green Door Address: 1429 Ivar Ave.
               Los Angeles, CA 90028
               Phone: (323) 463-0008

The Basics: If want to see and be seen, the Green Door is the place for you.  If you want to go to a lounge to chill and relax low key, this is not for you.  Yes, it’s a club, their appetizers are to die for, but Green Door is more on the upscale side.  Save it for “special” occasions or celebrations, you definitely don’t want to start your first date here or bring someone you’re just “seeing”, it’s just not that type of place.
For starters, it’s a bit hard to get it, but in L.A., but in Los Angeles all the hot trendy places are hard to get into.  Indeed the Green Door is a difficult door to get past through, alas difficult but not impossible.  Entering the Green Door through a nondescript door on a dark small street was like walking into a secret club.  Once you passed through the dark entrance, you were greeted by lush velvet curtains and a large Victorian drawing room- think crystal chandeliers, brocade chairs and sofas- the décor is simply amazing.  It has a great classic design that makes you feel as if you are in a different time period.  This secluded lounge lests the dress-to-impress crowd step past Sunset’s neon lights and traffic into Paris, circa 1925.
What makes this place so great is its service, the amazing ambiance and surroundings.  As the night progresses clothes will lessen and the tempo will thicken as crowds fill the sprawling wood floor in celebration of the DJs creative beats.

Hours: Tuesday-Friday 9pm-2am

Blu Monkey
Address: 900 Manhattan Ave.
              Manhattan Beach, CA 90266
              Phone: (310) 722-1084

The Basics: Wanna chill and get down with style?  If your answer is yes/ possibly maybe or you just don’t know, then stop thinking so hard and get yourself and some friends to this playful primate kitsch and lush lounge.  This trendy hot spot is a Moroccan-inspired lounge with great music, a friendly staff and a fully stocked bar.  Whether you want to sip a drink at the walnut wood bar, relax in the VIP area, hang out in the back patio or lounge on the comfy couches you’re almost guaranteed to have a good time.  However, if you are looking to party and dance the night away, this isn’t the place to do so, they do have a mini dance floor which is big enough to just chill, just take it easy no “Dancing with the Stars” shiz here.
The atmosphere is stunning and inviting, the Dj is great at knowing what people want to hear, and the service is awesome.  The thing about the Blu Monkey is the people.  The crowd is eclectic and interesting and hasn’t settled into one sort of groove yet.

Hours: Daily from 8pm til 2am

The Side Door Print E-mail

The Side Door
Address: 900 Manhattan Ave.
                 Manhattan Beach, CA 90266
                 Phone: (310) 722-1084

The Basics: This cozy little hole in the wall is located right in the heart of downtown Manhattan Beach.  The Side Door is a great little Martini Bar you’ll fall in love with- even if you don’t drink martinis.  The small size adds to the character and great music is always playing in the background.
This comfortable basement-sized martini bar fills a niche between the stuffier and scruffier neighborhood spots.   The recently renovated bar features a cool crushed blue glass bar and sapphire velvet seating. The exterior of the Side Door has a rustic cathedral facade complete with stained-glass windows and unmarked entry, conceals this slightly subterranean watering hole. The cozy spot features faux blue velvet couches, benches and rounded booths, along with a tiny bar in the middle of the room. The place is chill during the week with a late night crowd-and on weekends- it's a great place to have an appetizer with someone new-and then come back for the party late night.
Great drinks, awesome mMusic and a great staff.  The Side Door is  cozy enough to be comfortable, hip enough to be considered upscale, and fun enough to make  everybody a “regular”.

Seven Lounge
Address: 7929 Santa Monica Blvd.
                 West Hollywood, CA 90046
                 Phone: (323) 822-0700

The Basics:
Most recently remembered as I-Candy, this once no-man's-land bar used to be the trendy Belly in the early '00s. It's now been redesigned as an elegant 1960's throwback lounge full of intriguing nooks. Upon entry, turquoise bricks line the black walls dotted with solitary candles. In the main bar area, a glass-enclosed DJ booth peeks over two sunken tables. The outdoor front patio is always festive--and often jammed with smokers watching the late-night traffic on Santa Monica Boulevard zoom by.
Don’t let their looks or location fool you since it’s a pretty chill place.  Get the full “Hollywood” experience minus the attitude and the cockiness.  At Seven you’ll find an exclusive yet friendly crowd.  Seven is a good place to chill and have fun with your friends, and also a hot hookup spot for all the singles out there.  The dark and sexy ambiance facilitates mingling.  It’s also a great place to celebrate birthdays.   Overall the club is beautiful, the bartenders are fast and very cook, and the crowd is just great.  Parking can be a hassle, but isn’t always an issue everywhere you go?

Hours: Daily from 9pm til 2am
