Monica Lionheart, best known for her work as vocalist in the live shows of Pacha Massive and Zigmat, is making a name for herslf with her debut solo album Indian Summer.

In the album, which will be released on April 10 through Nacional Records, Lionheart shows her unique style in a track listing that is reminiscent of the yearning in Carla Morrison’s indie-pop songs and the life-experience of a soulfully-mature Gaby Moreno.

Growing up in a musical environment, the Nuyorican has always been surrounded by creatives, which served as seed to her eclectic musicianship. Aside from having distinctive, etheral vocals, Lionheart also plays the piano, guitar, drums and the flute.

Strings, slight vocal effects, and piano chords wrap Indian Summer into a mesmerizing album that seduces the ear into a deep and soothing nostalgia. The song “Circles” features world-renowned cellist, Yoed Nir (Regina Spektor, Rufus Wainwright) and the track “Air and Sea” offers an easy-listening melodic groove.

Monica Lionheart is also a producer and DJ. Her album’s official album release will take place on April 14, 2012 at Joe’s Pub in New York City, one day after the album’s pre-release on iTunes.
