Acclaimed singer songwriter and social activist Cecilia Villar Eljuri has released a powerful music video “Ya Es Hora” (Now Is The Time).

Eljuri hopes to affect positive change through all her music, she believes that “to those from whom much is asked much must be given.

Now is the time (Ya Es Hora) for all US citizens to stand behind those who sacrifice the most in the name of our country’s freedoms. We should actively support initiatives that increase benefits for service members and their families.”

The video features Eljuri as witness to the challenges faced by a soldier home from war, his body broken and his home life shattered by Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The stunning video brings awareness to the serious nature of PTSD and Depression. It shares the message of where military service members can access support for their most urgent needs.

PTSD is real and it is a growing scourge that our military faces. On average, five active-duty troops attempt and twenty-two veterans commit suicide every day. Fifty-one percent of Iraq or Afghanistan War veterans know someone who has attempted or committed suicide, according to a Washington Post/Kaiser Family Foundation survey (April 2014).

eljuriEljuri and Manovill Records partnered once again with the creative team of Kristian Austin (Industrial Arts & Manufacturing) and Olga Mazurkiewicz (Z Collective) to write and direct this auspicious and prophetic story. The Directors explain, “Our video is structured so that the ‘now’ moment is constantly shifting between the reality of Eljuri as the storyteller and the soldier and his wife reliving this ancient drama. The situation is urgent. Now is the time (Ya Es Hora) to get involved because the soldier’s final decision has not yet been made.” Presented in a film noir style by Alex Korovin, Director of Photography, the style underscores the timeless and borderless nature of the unsettling reality of the story.

The song Ya Es Hora is the fourth single from Eljuri’s second solo album ‘Fuerte’ released by Manovill Records and Discos Intolerancia (MX-SA). Ecuadorian singer-songwriter Eljuri, is touted as one of the top Latina guitarists in the world and has been a member of the Gibson family of guitarists since 2008. Fittingly, socially conscious musician, Mario Muñoz (Doctor Krapula) contributes a signature rap to the song.

Eljuri’s powerful rock fusion, soaring guitars and relevant lyrics inspire the fight for individual freedom. Her lyrics motivate a diverse audience from young children, to a vibrant youth and seasoned music lovers of all ages and cultures. She was born in Guayaquil, raised in NYC, and tours internationally.

In order to bring greater awareness to the issue of PTSD, the United States Senate designated June 27th as National PTSD Awareness Day. According to the National Center for PTSD (NCPTSD), PTSD is an anxiety disorder resulting from exposure to a single traumatic event or multiple traumatic events, such as war-related combat stress.
