Unirock

At one time, Los Angeles was a hot bed for local Spanish rock, with bands like Maria Fatal, Pastilla, Ley de Hielo, Cabula, Voz de Mano, Los Olvidados and many more, it was an exciting time to see all these bands doing their own shows or opening for major acts like Café Tacvba, Caifanes, El Tri and many other major groups.

Unfortunately, with the lack of support from the media and promoters, most of these bands disappeared and it created a void in the L.A. music scene.

Fortunately, a whole new crop of bands are trying to fill that void, and not only are these bands full of talented musicians, but there are also those with a vision that goes beyond just getting up on stage and playing, now bands are creating projects designed to help promote the music and the bands as it’s the case with Unirock, a new project designed to promote the music and the bands and below I share with you, some details from Unirock’s press release:

“Unirock is the union of Spanish rock bands with the purpose of renewing Spanish rock.”

UnirockUnirock is not only interested in promoting Spanish rock but is also interested in the artistic and professional growth of each band allied to this movement. As proof, on October 12, 2013, Unirock released a cd entitled ‘Unirock 1.4’, which is a compilation by local Spanish rock bands Radio Elei, Alianza Rebelde, La Era and Manantial De Fuego.

Currently, Carvin Guitars has joined the movement and has become Unirock’s official sponsor to promote this new culture of Spanish rock, with a look at conquering new borders. Unirock and Carvin Guitars have plans for festivals and live concerts at the beginning of 2014 where other talented bands are expected to join the movement.”

This coming Saturday, November 2nd, Unirock and Carvin Guitars will be presenting the “Carving Live Sessions” series at Carving Guitar’s studios in Hollywood with La Era, Alianza Rebelde, and Love Star.

The event will be free and it will take place from 2 pm to 5 pm at 7414 W. Sunset Blvd., L.A. CA 90046.
