HARD Summer 2015

HARD is on my list of festivals I must attend each year. It’s not only because of the “vibes” or “edm MUSIC” (please writers: it’s not electronic music music), but it’s really about the diversity of music and the spacious grounds to dance on.

This year, headliners include: The Weeknd, The Chemical Brothers, Dillon Francis, Porter Robinson, Jack Ü, Ratatat, Chromeo, DJ Mustard and Die Antwoord. HARD veterans RL Grime, Salva, Valentino Khan and Zeds Dead, among others are coming back this year. Sweet.

The festival this year is on August 1 and 2 at the Fairplex in Pomona. Tickets are going fast – Saturday single tickets have already sold out. The 2-day festival tickets are $199 and the Sunday single tickets are $89. Doors open at 11 a.m. and it is 18 and over.

Tickets are about to sell out, so don’t sleep on it. And if you’re sleeping on it, here are my reasons why you should attend, and a playlist to help you decide. Cheers!

5. See Fetty Wap perform “Trap Queen” live.

Hey, wassup, hello! Whether you love or hate this song, it’s too catchy and where else would you be able to scream in unison to “I be in the kitchen cookin’ pies with my baby”? Well, I mean, unless you’re literally cooking pies with your baby.

4. Lido and Porter Robinson at the same place… live.

Norwegian producer Lido and anime-enthusiast/electronic producer Porter Robinson are both two of the most creative musicians out there. They incorporate their musicianship to flow with their passion, whether it’s game-sounds or Jersey club.

3. The women of electronic.

Yeah, we see you. The following names have been killin’ it lately: Anna Lunoe, Nina Las Vegas (who we’ve recently interviewed), Mija and Hannah Wants… if that’s not enough, there is headliner Maya Jane Coles and catchy rapper Leikeli47 performing as well. Diversity at it’s best.

2. Odesza.

This duo was at Coachella this year and I wasn’t able to catch their performance. Luckily, I saw them for a minute as I rushed to the next stage but the deal is that they clearly know how to catch a person’s attention. They’re a must see this time around because second chances don’t come often.

1. Jamie XX.

Between “Sleep Sound” and “Obvs” from his new album In Colour, the man has created magic, a gift to our electronic ears.
