Gustavo Galindo Levi's Film Workshop

The Levi’s Film Workshop is a filmmakers candy store. Temporarily housed inside the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA, the Workshop grants the general public access to its slow motion booths, green screens, stop motion animation, multiplane animation, phonotrope, equipment rentals, and film processing resources free of charge.

Surco/Universal Latino’s Gustavo Galindo made use of the services to film the music video for “Amor de Alta Mar”, the third music video off his debut album, Entre La Ciudad Y El Mar. Latin urban rapper Malverde, and video director Carlos Lopez Estrada, who directed Galindo’s “Amor de Alta Mar” video, have used the facilities for other music projects as well.

You can catch the special screening event of “Amor de Alta Mar” this Thursday, August 4th at the Levi’s Film Workshop at the MOCA from 6:00p.m. -8:00p.m., where Galindo and Estrada will discuss the making of the video, and where the musician will offer a live intimate performance. The event is free and open to the public. RSVP required.

The Levi’s Film Workshop is part of the ongoing Art in the Streets exhibition at the MOCA, which goes on until August 8, 2011. Click here to read about the remaining Art in the Streets and Levi’s Film Workshop events.
