Jose Mrochek, the Bolivian singer/songwriter better known for his artistic name, Avionica, is getting ready to release a new album to be titled Electricidad
Ahead of the album release, Avionica has released two singles, the first one being “Instinto Animal” and his second and latest single, a collaboration with Chilean singer Francisca Valenzuela, titled “Distante”.
Taking advantage of Avionica’s recent visit to Los Angeles and his performance at Boardner’s in Hollywood, we had the chance to talk about the album and this new collaboration with Francisca Valenzuela.
“I have been following Francisca Valenzuela’s music for quite some time and our manager, who manages both of us, showed her some of my music and videos and she liked what she heard, so we asked Francisca if she would like to sing on the song “Distante” and she said yes” stated Avionica when I asked how the collaboration with Francisca Valenzuela came about.
“Francisca also appears on the video for “Distante”, which we filmed recently and we are now in the final editing stages so it should be out in the next couple of weeks or so” added Avionica about the upcoming video for this second single.
For this new upcoming album, Avionica has taken a more electronic approach in comparison to his previous album, which was based more on guitars, either electric or acoustic and Avionica added: “This was more of a production decision, my approach to creating music hasn’t changed, we just decided to add more electronic elements at the time of production.”
When asked what led to the addition of more electronic elements, Avionica stated: “I am a big fan of 80’s electronic music like Depeche Mode and I have always liked that sound with synthesizers and we decided to experiment a bit with the different sounds and change things up a bit.”
“I don’t know what the next record will bring, for this album it just felt right to go with the electronic vibe, I don’t like to be stagnant musically and always like to try new things” responded Avionica when asked if the electronic sound of this album would be a new path for any future music.
The new album Electricidad is scheduled to be released early next year and with the release of the album, Avionica will embark on a tour to promote the album and will surely be back to play in the U.S.
