Equal parts Surf, Metal, Punk, Noise, Pop and Cabaret, the critically-acclaimed underground sextet, Descartes A Kant band from Guadalajara, Mexico announced their California tour in December with shows in Los Angeles (12/2 – The Roxy), Pomona (12/3 – Glass House), San Francisco (12/4 – The Parkside) and in Salinas (12/5 – Casa Sorrento).
With their first 2 albums Descartes A Kant have made a real name for themselves in the press as an otherworldly, unpredictable theatrical live act. So much so that even the Wall Street Journal chimed in to say that “trying to describe their music is to do it a disservice. It’s loud, racy, incredibly imaginative, sophisticated, funny and wild; it’s as if the Yeah Yeah Yeahs fronted Albert Ayler with Frank Zappa conducting”.
The group is now considered one of the leading lights in the vibrant, ever-evolving Mexican rock underground and is now poised to gain greater international acceptance abroad.
The band have thrilled both club and festival audiences all over the world – including Russia- and have shared bills with the likes of The Melvins, Stereo Total, Faith No More, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Sonic Youth, The Horrors, Yo La Tengo, Le Bucherettes, Explosions in the Sky and, Slayer – whose ex-drummer, Dave Lombardo has built a long-lasting friendship with the band.
The band isnow set to embark on a short run up the California coast in December 2015. Two of these dates are with Mr. Lombardo’s new, post-Slayer project. The band is also scheduled to record their next record in Chicago in March 2016 and is listed for more touring throughout the rest of 2016.
