After four years since the release of their highly acclaimed first album, Chilean electronic rock band, Astro, recently released their sophomore album titled Chicos De La Luz, a 10 ten track collection of songs that have a very 80’s electronic feel to them.

Chicos De La Luz, was produced by Astro’s lead singer, Andrés Nausser and mixed by Dave Kutch who has worked with the like of Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keys and Little Dragon.

On their first album, the self titled, Astro, the Chilean quartet let us in to their attraction for electronic sounds but with hints of Latin rhythms and distorted guitars, on this second effort, the guitars have taken a secondary role and it is the keyboards and synthesizers that are more predominant, which echoes the works of electronic music pioneers, Kraftwerk and other 80’s bands that mixed electronic music on their danceable tunes, and of course, we also get a good mix of the tropical sounds that were part of their first album.

Chicos de La Luz may not be an album where a specific song jumps out and it may even take more than one listen to really appreciate all the subtle musical nuisances that make up this body of work, so put on your headphones and just let the music transport you.

Astro has been band known for their energetic and bombastic stage performances and it will be interesting how this album transfers to the stage, so we hope we can see the band touring through the U.S. soon.

The album is now out at all digital download stores and it can also be streamed on Spotify.
