Prior to their performance at this year’s Supersonico, Chilean quartet, Astro played an intimate show at the Red Bull Studios in Santa Monica to showcase their latest album, Chicos De La Luz

After a Q & A with the press and audience, Astro took the stage and proved once again why they are one of the rising stars of Latin American music.

It is always great to see a band play in such an intimate setting, especially a band that has such an intricate electronic sound and to see them perform every sound live, it was such a treat.

After the release of their first album, the self titled Astro, the band went on a steady rise to popularity which was helped by social media and has allowed the band a large fan base in Europe and the U.S. and after constant touring, the band has also become a favorite in most of Latin America and especially Mexico where they have played the Vive Latino festival with great success.

Chicos De La Luz, the band’s sophomore effort, has quickly become a favorite with fans and music critics.  The album was produced by Astro’s lead singer and guitarist, Andrés Nausser and mixed by Dave Kutch who has worked with the like of Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keys and Little Dragon.

At the Red Bull Studios, the band played a set that included songs from both of their albums beginning with “Bardo Thodol” and “Caribbean” from the new album and then began mix in songs from their debut album and songs like “Colombo” and “Panda” began to appear.

With each song the momentum and energy kept rising and when they announced the end of their set with “Ciervos”, the audience would not have any of it and kept chanting for more and the band had to oblige and ended up playing another three songs.
