Musicians expanding their brand by venturing into the restaurant business is nothing new. Just last month, norteño musician Ramon Ayala opened his first Cocina and Cantina at Buffalo Bill’s Resort & Casino, giving us yet another excuse to make a quick trip to the state line.

And on April 3rd, legendary KISS front man Gene Simmons will open his own grub shack business as well. In collaboration with restaurant impresario Michael Zislis and concert promoter Dave Furano, Simmons’ Rock & Brews will set up tent in El Segundo, California to serve concert classics, including mouth-watering “Opening Act” appetizers and “VIP” salads. Handcrafted burgers and over 40 different kinds of beers will also be on the menu.

As for ambience, Rock & Brews will be shaped into a music fan’s hideout with live concerts and videos playing on multiple flat screens and music memorabilia draping the restaurant walls. The venue will also be designed to be family and dog friendly as well, and will host a play area for kids and an open patio for man’s best friend.

Four other Rock & Brews restaurants are in the works for 2012, and a further expansion to Denver, Atlanta, Maui, Hawaii, Tokyo, and Los Cabos, Mexico is in future plans as well.
