The AvalonLos Angeles nightlife is as unstable as its ephemeral attendees. Clubs, lounges, bars and venues come and go… just like fashion- one day they’re in, the following day they could be out.  An iconic L.A. venue that has been around for several decades regardless of the instability and ever-changing Los Angeles/ Hollywood nightlife is the Avalon. Its history goes way back to the 20’, 1927 to be exact. The first time it opened its doors on January 24, 1927 it was known as the “Hollywood Playhouse”, and it served as stage to many plays and musicals.

It eventually turned into “The WPA Federal Theatre”, then was bought by CBS and became “El Capitan Theatre”, by then it made its way through TV, changed names yet once again from “The Jerry Lewis Theatre” to “The Hollywood Palace”, and years later became a club and concert venue simply known as “The Palace”.  Many of the “big” names in entertainment got to perform at “The Palace”: Madonna, Prince, The Rolling Stones, Tina Turner, Nirvana, the Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails, among others.

A few years ago it changed owners yet once again and became what now is known as “The Avalon”.  Where it kept its tradition as a trendy club hot spot and concert venue.

Their biggest club nights are from Thursday- Saturday. On Thursdays it houses “Tigerheat” which is perhaps the biggest GLBT club on this side of Los Angeles.  On Fridays it’s known as “Spiderclub” and on Saturdays it becomes “Avaland”.  During both Fridays and Saturdays, The Avalon works to bring the biggest DJ names locally and internationally, as well as different music acts both established and up-and-coming.

There’s always something going on at “The Avalon”, so que no te digan que no te cuenten and check it out for yourself.

Hi, my name is Rafael Alejandro Acero Hernandez, and I'm an alcoholic.   I don't drink beer.  I'm addicted to chocolate.   I'm a bit bipolar and every once in a while obsessive/ compulsive.   I have a really short attention span.  I don't believe in labels, I'm not defined by what I do or by who I do- for that matter.   I'm a writer, an actor, a dancer, BUT nothing is better than being a professional a$$hole.  Soy un chilango incomprendido, y como tal- valemadrista a morir.
