 ¡Que no te digan, que no te cuenten! If you’re not familiar with burlesque dance, don’t listen to the nasty rumors that have been running around for ages, and experience it yourself. En vivo y a todo color. The prudes out there will tell you burlesque dance is just a fancy term for strippers and exotic dancers. While there is stripping and the dancing is rather exotic, there’s nothing skimpy about burlesque dance. Burlesque dance is a sensual art form, sensual not sexual- don’t get it twisted!
Burlesque dance originated in the 1840’s (yes waaaay back), and it was quite popular for a couple of decades… up until the 1930’s. Fortunately for this generation, burlesque is coming back, so whenever you have a chance, check it out. It’s not for everyone since there is slight nudity, but nothing is vulgar or overtly sexual. Yes, there’s a little nip here and there, and yes, there’s a pole… but it’s all done in an artistic way. Think Dita Von Teese, one of today’s top burlesque performers.
Viva Los Angeles Burlesque have events quite often in the L.A. area, for this “Hot Summer Nights!” session there will be performances by the Satin Dollz, Go-Go Amy, Violet Valentine, plus DJ Johnny Devil will be spinning some badass tunes, y por si fuera poco, a special performance by the band Kill Kill Club.
Just remember that this is a 21+ event.
