LOVG: Grandes ExitosIt came as a surprise to everyone when Amaia Montero announced her decision to leave Latin Grammy winning Spanish band La Oreja de Van Gogh. It seemed like it was the end of La Oreja de Van Gogh, after all, Amaia Montero served as their voice and their image. Surprisingly enough, earlier this year, the band’s remaining members expressed their desire to continue with La Oreja de Van Gogh, but with new lead singer- Leire Martinez. While you wait for the new LOVG album to drop in September, enjoy this greatest hits compilation.

While La Oreja de Van Gogh has a very distinctive sound and are quite popular, it is hard not to notice (especially in a compilation album) the fact that their formula remains the same throughout the years. It’s not a good thing, it’s not a bad thing- it just is. LOVG seems to follow the same pattern Maná chose to follow- which is to stick to a certain style/ sound and formula… if it’s not broken, why fix it?

That seems to work for La Oreja de Van Gogh. Regardless of their formulaic singles, it’s hard and almost impossible not to like their music. Love them or loathe them, al parecer hay Oreja de Van Gogh para rato.
