Faca Faca: The Party Continues Print E-mail

FacaLife is not a party. Or so they say. But inflatable green alligators, bags of confetti and lollipopsgalore beg to differ. The typical FACA performance is a party. But with the mastermind behind the duo out of the picture, will the “FACA FACA party” that we’re used to be no more? According to Valeria (front man for the duo)… “la fiesta seguira!”

Although in many of the shows FACA–mastermind Facundo was present only in spirit and in his recordings, Valeria was able to play-up the playback with her high-energy aerobic dance moves. Her crazy antics accompanied by Facundo’s clever loops and beats left no bones un-rattled. But due to various side projects that keep Facundo busy in Argentina, he recently announced that FACA would have to continue without him. “I wish Valeria the very best,” he states “I’ve never met anyone who works so hard for what they want in life. But right now I have other projects stuck in my head.” With a blend of surf, rock n’ roll, ska and Afro Cuban elements, the project “Robotronic” will introduce Facundo as a soloist and as a vocalist. Along with “Robotronic”, Facundo has been working continuously on other projects such as surf-rock band “Los Invasores” and grunge-rock band “EN”.

As for where that leaves Valeria and FACA, Valeria assures us that she has no plans on leaving the music scene just yet. Facundo’s split from the project also means a beginning for her as a soloist as well. “I’ve been speaking with different colleagues regarding possible collaborations for the new album to make sure that FACA continues,” she states. The new sound of FACA promises new concepts that will consist of more musical elements and fewer playbacks, which Valeria has always wanted to try.

FACA - like many other things-is an offspring of the Internet. Valeria and Facundo met through a mutualfriend and eventually built a long distance relationship through emails and on-line chats. Valeria was living in San Diego and Facundo in Argentina, but in 2003 and after 5 years worth of chats, the duo arose to the idea of “FACA” as a band name and ultimately recorded a demo and later an album under the Nuevos Ricos label.

“FACA has always been about not taking things too seriously, about having fun and enjoying life,” states Valeria “I was knocking on doors before I was part of FACA and now as part of FACA I will continue to knock on doors. There’s enough FACA to continue.”
