Wish TreeForget Courtney Love or even Yolanda Saldivar, perhaps the most hated woman in and music history is undoubtedly Yoko Ono.  No one really cares about her political involvement, her music career or her work as an artist- to many she’s just “The Beatles Slayer”.  Not only did Yoko Ono’s involvement with John Lennon make her the most hated woman in rock and roll, but it seemed for a while that the whole world loathed her.

With the Beatles and hatred aside, Yoko Ono has somehow managed to stay prominent among underground artists, and while her art nowadays is rather cheesy and a sorry excuse for an apology for “breaking up” the fab four, it’s still interesting to see the amount of response she gets.

One of her projects as an artist was the “Wish Trees”, which have traveled around the world. An ever-increasing “art” exhibit features a bunch of… guess? Trees… not just trees--- wish trees.  While it might sound like a kindergarten “Green Day” project, it has brought hope to many.  It’s quite a refreshing and comforting experience.

These so-called “Wish Trees” allow pretty much any one to take part of the art- as simple as writing a wish and tying it to the tree.  The act of wishing is described by Ono as a “collective prayer.” Some wishes are deeply personal; some represent wishes for all humankind. Sure, it’s no U.N. treaty, but for a nation with he hopes por los suelos, a “Wish Tree” is far from childish now.  Check it out, and grab something to eat at the One Colorado Courtyard while you’re there.
