Let’s face it; the amount of people comfortable with nudity is minimal. Very few of us are comfortable enough in our own skin to lounge around naked (under closed doors and all); for many of us, the only time we’re fully nude is when we hit the shower. It’s all a state of mind, being comfortable in one’s skin has to do with one key thing: confidence. Dandelion Dance Theatre focuses mainly on that confidence, acceptance, body issues and such on their latest show.
The Highways Performance Space in Santa Monica is known for presenting innovative and risqué art- let it be dance or theatre. This time though, they outdo themselves. Nudity for the sake of nudity is somewhat vulgar, however nudity for the sake of art… well, that’s another story. Join the Dandelion Dance Theatre Ensemble for an evening of sexploration, confrontation and acceptance. One of their main focus comes in “Testiculish”, in which men explore sexuality, sensuality as well as body image issues and such. It’s an extraordinary dance concert that shouldn’t be missed. The last dance piece “ANNICA” sums it all up. “Testiculish and other adventures through the underbelly” is definitely breathtaking and sinuously aesthetically stunning.
