If you are not familiar with Kathy Griffin and her work, this is a great introductory material. Her “big break” came years ago with a secondary role in the not-so-popular “Suddenly Susan”, starring Brooke Shields. However, that’s not why she’s been on the radar lately. For that, thank her D-List celebrity status, her various Bravo specials, her potty mouth and her bluntness.
While Kathy Griffin can undoubtedly make anyone laugh, those prone to idolize, praise and “get” her humor are girls and “the gays”. The whole idea behind releasing this album is as ambitious as it is hilarious. Kathy Griffin recorded “For Your Consideration” for the sole purpose of winning a Grammy- or at least getting nominated in one of those “f-cked up categories along Maya Angelou and Janet Reno”. Just like in her Bravo specials and in her Emmy winning hit reality TV show “My Life On The D-List”, Kathy Griffin’s humor on “For Your Consideration” relies on celebrity humor and self-deprecating jokes. Kathy Griffin invites the audience in Tracy, California to have a “night of honesty”. As in her previous work, Kathy is not afraid to speak her mind (and burn bridges in the process). She covers her D-list status, Barbara Walters, the untouchable all mighty Oprah, The Osmonds, and even her adventures with (her now ex) love interest- billionaire and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak. Whether you’re a Kathy Griffin fan, or just enjoy good ol’ comedy, you will fall in love “For Your Consideration” and you’ll be constantly laughing throughout, even if you’re not one of her beloved “gays”. Now, if you’re part of her core audience, you’ll laugh like there’s no tomorrow--- beware, you might even pee a little bit. |
