What ever happened to good old entertainment?  The kind of entertainment that involved good old scripted, smart, clever and funny sitcoms.  Nowadays it seems like that kind of entertainment está en peligro de extinción.  Reality shows are taking over primetime television.  But that’s not the only plague invading television ladies and gents- tabloid-style shows are making their way through, proving to be quite popular now more than ever.  Shows like Entertainment Tonight, Extra, and now TMZ.   Heck, even the news seem to revolve around the entertainment segment.   When Britney’s whereabouts, Amy Winehouse’s coke binges and Lindsay’s hook-ups get more attention than the upcoming elections… eek! We’re in deep trouble.

Party Up

Money, success, fame, glamour- the American Dream, the oh so Hollywood epitome.  Some people work hard for it, some people hardly work yet they still achieve their goal of making it into the entertainment stratosphere.  It is true- if you work hard; it is only fair that you play hard as well.  After all, it’s all about balancing things out, right?  

When you’re part of a certain group of people and you’re exposed to a certain lifestyle, lleno de excesos y valemadrismo, it’s very easy to fall into very dark places.  Dime con quien andas y te dire quien eres… yes, very cliché indeed, but unfortunately it’s true.

If you hang out with a bunch of nerds, odds are you are one; if you hang out with a bunch of lazy bums, whether you like it or not, como que es contagioso; now if you hang out with a bunch of stoners and what not, it doesn’t necessarily mean you’re a pot-head, but it does mean that you are prone to it, your odds at becoming one are higher than those who are not exposed to that kind of “behavior”. 

Hot Mess

Several celebrities, most of them females, have been going through some rough patches lately.  Scandals, drug binges, drunk antics, excessive partying and cooch flashing become more important than their career.  

A clear example of that is Amy Winehouse- very talented, yet her work as a singer is overtly outshined by her outrageous behavior and her not-so-private drug binges. 

Another one is 2007’s most talked about “celebrity”, Ms. Britney Spears.  Whose career as pop star diva is now in the dumpster thanks to all that partying, substance abuse and overall lack of judgment. 

And what about Lindsay Lohan?   Her movie career went down the toilet, and her music career (which never really took off) is as gone as Britney’s sanity.

So what do these pseudo- celebrities do when their careers are in stasis and about to vanish?   Just have fun…  Their antics however don’t happen in vain, after all, they become an example of what not to do to all the ladies out there.  So,  ladies, learn from all the tabloid stars and always always remember what they have taught America’s girls:

*Never leave the house without undies.

*Don’t mix your alcohol.

*Don’t videotape yourself doing any illegal substances.

*Never, ever make a sex tape.

*Lay off the cheetos.

*Stay away from Starbucks (it’ll fatten you up like you have no idea).

*Take it easy on the partying. If you’re going out more than three times a week, you’re in the hopes of becoming “America’s Next Hot Mess”.
