Perhaps one of the biggest female American icons is and will always be none other than a blonde bombshell by the name of Marilyn Monroe.  Decades after her death, millions of women try to emulate her ways- whether it is her bubbly attitude or her sensual ways. Indeed, the ladies seem to be fixated with this character, even more so in Hollywood.  Not only that, but the entertainment industry has done its fair share to immortalize Ms. Monroe and convert her into an immortal legend.

Humble beginnings, tragic endings

Just like the real Marilyn Monroe, those who try to imitate her physique and her career moves end up in similar situations.  A clear example of that is none other than Anna Nicole Smith, who recently met the same faith as Miss Monroe.  Since the beginning of her career as an exotic dancer and then as a Playboy bunny, Anna Nicole Smith was not too shy in letting the world know who her role model was.  In the end she wanted to be so much like her idol that she met the same fate by suffering from a tragic death at a somewhat young age. 

Platinum Blonde Life

Anna Nicole Smith was neither the first nor the last to base her career on Marilyn’s.  Several aspiring actresses and models at one point in their career try to emulate that of Marilyn Monroe- let it be the platinum blonde hair, the sensual attitude or some racy pictures.

A few weeks ago Lindsay Lohan, fresh out of rehab with nothing better to do, decided to re-shoot Marilyn Monroe’s last photo shoot in which she appeared totally naked. Lindsay Lohan, out of all the people.  Her career as an actress is deep down in the dumpster, her music career never took off, and her personal life is as messy as it could be--- in and out of rehab, arrests, emergency trips to the hospital and what not.  She is a total mess, and to back that up, her equally messed up relatives are always bragging about their support towards her. 

Even though Lindsay is not the first one to do so, this time around Marilyn Monroe’s now infamous last photo shoot in the nude is so sensual that its easy for photographers and models to come deliver a trashy work, which is exactly what happened with Lohan.  Whether you like her or don’t care much for her, it’s hard to look past this photo shoot for New York Magazine.

Someone that couldn’t resist letting the world know how he felt about that photo shoot was Michael Musto, writer for “The Village Voice”.
