Address: 9876 Wilshire Blvd Beverly Hills, CA 90210 Phone: (310) 285-1300 The Basics: Beverly Hills' legendary Polynesian lounge moves poolside and gets a hipster makeover. The kitschy old Polynesian home of the deadly scorpion bowl moves poolside at the Beverly Hilton hotel. Devoted fans still find tiki touches of Tahitian sculpture and vintage canoes, but the decor is now more tropical-modern, with leather banquettes and chunky wooden bar tables flowing onto the poolside patios umbrellas and cabanas. Late in the week, DJs spins under the stars as surf movies project on the walls. A mixed hotel and youthful crowd gather for legendary tropical drinks, pupu platters and sushi.
If Mai Tai stands for "the very best" then you should have one from the self-proclaimed originator... The food was mediocre, the ambience not as Polynesian as you would hope and the service is… well, Beverly Hills as were the prices. In any case, it is worth a visit for the drink menu alone. Pick one with a Menehune Person accoutrement and you'll be happy to walk out with a souvenir. Don't bother eating at this restaurant/bar, just stick to the drink menu, which features dozens of tropical cocktails. Though the crowd is very suntanned Beverly Hills, it's still a fun place to go, if only to share a Scorpion Bowl for two.

| Hi, my name is Rafael Alejandro Acero Hernandez, and I'm an alcoholic. I don't drink beer. I'm addicted to chocolate. I'm a bit bipolar and every once in a while obsessive/ compulsive. I have a really short attention span. I don't believe in labels, I'm not defined by what I do or by who I do- for that matter. I'm a writer, an actor, a dancer, BUT nothing is better than being a professional a$$hole. Soy un chilango incomprendido, y como tal- valemadrista a morir. | |
