Supersaund 2012If you’re a big time fan of the Argentinean band Los Fabulosos Cadillacs you’re in for a heck of a ride. More often than not when bands go on hiatus and its members focus on their solo careers, the results are disastrous. Fortunately for many, this is not the case with Señor Flavio.

Los Fabulosos Cadillacs are known for their particular sound- a mix of rock, ska, jazz, folk, rap and big band. If the name doesn’t ring a bell, perhaps the name of their biggest hit will do it for you. Does “El Matador” ring a bell?

So, for “Supersaund 2012”, Señor Flavio and the Flavio Madinga Project decided to take that particular Fabulosos Cadillacs sound to a different level--- making it a sort of continuation from where they left of. The album is fun and surprisingly good.

Señor Flavio is not scared of trying new things and playing around with different genres--- his strongest weapon: not taking himself too seriously. From the opening track until the last chords of “Retirada Murguera Porteña” you’ll experience a wide array of sounds. His solo album is closer to reggae, ska, latin and rock—proof of that is “Cristina” a cumbia sabrosona that will get you on the dance floor in no time.

Must [legally] download songs: Malito, El Apagón, La Herida, Oportuna, Cristina
