Author: David Shields Publisher: Knopf Year: 2008 Price: About $23.95Unlike other autobiography authors, for David Shields, an autobiography is, and needs to be put together and have the same flow a regular novel has.David Shields does not stick to the usual autobiography format and approaches his life-story quite differently.Instead of focusing on the ups and downs, the good and the bad, he shies away from the black-and-white point of view and focuses on the gray areas.
On “The Thing About Life Is That One SDay You’ll Be Dead”, David Shields dedicates a huge portion on the relationship with his almost 100-year-olf father… he also touches basis on growing old once you’re already old. He keeps everything straight-out and real, without exaggerating or sugar-coating things. Nowadays memoirs have lost credibility thanks to the blurred line between what’s actually real and what is an exaggeration. That’s not the case in this book. Some work hard to bring sexy back, Shields strives to bring actual genuine memoirs back.

Acerca del Autor:
Hi, my name is Rafael Alejandro Acero Hernandez, and I'm an alcoholic. I don't drink beer. I'm addicted to chocolate. I'm a bit bipolar and every once in a while obsessive/ compulsive. I have a really short attention span. I don't believe in labels, I'm not defined by what I do or by who I do- for that matter. I'm a writer, an actor, a dancer, BUT nothing is better than being a professional a$$hole. Soy un chilango incomprendido, y como tal- valemadrista a morir.
