Where?!

CMCHave you stopped and thought about where shops such as Macy’s, Nordstrom’s, Urban Outfitters, Bloomingdale’s, Barney’s, and various fashion boutiques get the merchandise you all love?  Sure there are fashion markets and conventions all over the world, but one of the major year-round markets is located right in the heart of the Los Angeles fashion district.  The market is called the California Market Center (CMC) and is a building comprised of 13 stories featuring all your clothing, shoe, and home décor needs.  Although this wholesale market is open daily, it hosts fashion weeks, major gift and home décor market days, textile shows, and various temporary exhibits and educational seminars.

What They Have in Store For You

At the moment, the CMC just finished their LA fashion market for summer ’08 lines of clothing and footwear, and are currently having a CMC gift and home market until the 21st of January.  Their next major fashion market will take place March 14 through March 18 and will feature new fall ’08 lines.  These shows feature 13 stories containing over 1,000 showrooms and exhibitors representing anywhere around 10,000 product lines.  These products include men’s wear, women’s wear, children’s wear, toys, gifts, decorative accessories, furniture & décor, home textiles, garden accessories, stationery, footwear, fashion accessories and personal care products.  Many of the new fashion lines are even presented in live fashion runway shows.

For Feet

Also hosted at this fabulous place is the occasional Transit L.A. Footwear and Accessories Show.  This show is the largest fashion footwear and accessories show on the west coast.  They feature the latest styles and trends for shoes, boots, handbags, and jewelry.  The next Transit show will be March 15 through March 17 and will run hand in hand with the L.A. Fashion Gift and Home Market for fall ’08.

Not For the Public

Although all of this does sound amazing, these events are intended only for wholesale buyers and sellers.  If you happen to be a wholesale buyer, you can register for any event through the website (www.californiamarketcenter.com).  There you will find information in regards to the breakdown of the building, registration forms, and market dates.  You can also find information on their website if you are a seller of such merchandise and want to be an exhibitor at any of the events.  These events are only going to keep growing larger, so get to it!

One thing is certain however, he is one badass motherf*cker!
