Spin That Wine!Whether you’re Mexican, Colombian, Peruvian, or Argentinean, you should know that as Hispanics and Latinos we enjoy our drinks. It’s not generalizing or making up stuff, everybody knows that’s the way it is.  No por nada la bebida oficial de Mexico es tequila instead of horchata.
Although we’re big on those strong alcoholic beverages: tequila, mezcal, pulque, and of course- beer, wine is something that is often overlooked.  Just like any other kind of booze, to enjoy wine you must familiarize yourself with the taste and the different types there are. Just like not anybody can drink tequila, not anybody can take wine; it’s all a matter of practice… after all, la práctica hace al maestro.

Not that far

Whether you’re too busy to notice or you’re just too engulfed in your own little world, there’s more to Los Angeles than theme parks and nightclubs. If you’re having one of those days where you can’t figure out what to do yet you don’t feel like doing much, grab a buddy and take a road trip up north to Santa Barbara.  It’s not as far as it sounds and you can definitely make a relaxing weekend out of it. Other than relaxing you can take a wine tasting tour through the many wineries you’ll find.  The Santa Barbara County has several wineries and “wine” towns.

Los Olivos

There are several excellent wineries in Santa Barbara County that do not have tasting facilities at their wineries. These wineries have elected to open tasting rooms in the town of Los Olivos. Los Olivos is a town that is all of two blocks long. Many of the historic buildings have been restored while new buildings all match the decor and architecture of the historic Los Olivos.
All but one of the tasting rooms are located within the block area of Los Olivos. The only exception is the Los Olivos Wine & Spirits Emporium, located on the outskirts of town.
