After four albums it was about time Julieta Venegas decided to publish a “greatest hits” compilation album. She started her career as a rocker, very popular in the Latin Alternative scene. That was for her debut and sophomore albums, after that she transitioned into mainstream pop. That transition is very noticeable in this album. The first four tracks show an aggressive and experimental Julieta, while the rest of the album showcases the Julieta Venegas that has been all over the radio. It’s 2 different artists with the voice as a common denominator. Whichever Julieta Venegas you prefer, you have to give her props- undoubtedly she is good at whatever she does; let it be Latin alternative or pop.
“Realmente Lo Mejor” includes basically all her singles, and unfortunately for everybody, it doesn’t include any new material, b-sides or unreleased songs. It’s an okay album for those who like the “new” Julieta and haven’t bought her last two albums.
