More Colours! Two years ago, the Barcelonan duo, The Pinker Tones, began a musical revolution with their distinctive style, formed by mixing sounds from live instruments and electronic additions. Their new production, More Colours!, features more than 30 artists including the Mexican band Kinky, Zeta Bosio from Soda Stereo, Nortec Collective, and Japanese DJ Konishi Yasuharu.

Manso and Furia

Professor Manso and Mister Furia, the artists and musicians who make up this duo, were first launched on the Internet. Their MySpace became one way to confirm the worldwide acceptance of their music. On March 2006, they had 11,000 contacts and today, near the end of 2007, their friend list contains more than 37,000. Not bad, is it? In addition to their thousands of fans throughout five continents, The Pinker Tones have met many friends in the music industry. Their recent album, More Colours!, is the result of meetings with several colleagues who created remixes of their songs for the material that was released at the end of this summer.

“It explains the band’s growth on an international level, the people we have met, and it represents the band’s universe to its fullest extent. There are not only remixes created by the people, but acoustic versions and versions people have completely modified as well. It is an excellent summary of everything inside the universe that was created thanks to The Million Dollar Revolution,” exclaims Mr. Furia on the telephone from Spain.

Online Production

More Colours! features more than 30 artists including the Mexican group Kinky, Zeta Bosio -from Soda Stereo-, Nortec Collective, Japanese DJ Konishi Yasuharu, and Ursula 1000, a music project which mixes chacha and glam sounds.
Producing material together with so many colleagues around the world is not an easy task, but thanks to the Internet this production became possible.

“The Internet has made many things possible. Since we can send song clips and we all work with the same or similar programs, exchanging information is very easy. However, this album would have been much more difficult to produce ten years ago and today, due to the democratization of the media, it is possible,” explains the Barcelonan artist.

Compromised

Among the duo’s many accomplishments, including performances in New York and Beijing, there are various features in American television series. Their song “Sonido Total” was played during Ugly Betty’s last season, and their classic track “When the Saints” was included in the reality show featuring Paris Hilton, The Simple Life.

They welcome the enormous success they have achieved in the United States with enthusiasm and respect.

“The truth is that Spain does not export many groups to the United States; this gives us a great responsibility, in a sense, because somehow we would like to do things right and leave the door open to those who follow our footsteps. There is a rich and pleasant aspect of music and we would like to leave a door open for many groups who want to walk through the door we have opened,” explains Mr. Furia.

During the final months of the year, The Pinker Tones are preparing for a series of performances in the United States, including one in the Los Angeles club, Little Temple, on November 11.

Also, their new material titled “Wild Animals” is expected to be released in early 2008. Meanwhile, Mr. Furia and Professor Manso do not waste their time.

“There is a quote I always repeat, it is from Pablo Picasso, and it says that ‘inspiration exists, but it has to find us working,’ which perfectly fits us. If we are not on the road, we start working at 9 in the morning, Monday through Friday, and work for many hours. We are constantly composing, rehearsing, working with instruments, saving material, and chatting with fans online or MySpace. There is a lot of work,” says Mr. Furia.
