Author: Willis Barnstone and Marvin Meyer Publisher: Shambhala Publications, Inc. Year: 2006 Price: About $26.95
If you like controversy and reading about the church and religion don’t bother you, then you will thoroughly enjoy “The Gnostic Bible”. Willis Barnstone and Marvin Meyer put out the best book for rebels and religious non-comformists. One of the good things about this book other than loads of controversy is the fact that it is also kind of educational since it will assist you to better understand the difference between Atheism and Gnosticism. As always, it’s recommended to keep an open mind while reading it.
The Gnostic Bible presents the most significant sacred texts of Gnostic mysticism. The Gnostics were religious thinkers who believed that salvation is found through mystical knowledge and personal religious experience. Gnostic writings offer striking perspectives on both early Christian and non-Christian thought.
This is the first time that such a diverse collection of ancient Gnostic texts has been published in a single volume, and many of the texts have never before been translated into English. |
