Face it, every American realizes that the economy sucks right now. People are spending far too much money on gasoline, the housing market has plummeted, and the unemployment rate is off the charts. In the midst of this, the fashion industry is taking a beating. Clothing prices have gone up, and the average fashion consumer isn’t looking to spend so much anymore. So what can a person do in order to stay “fabulous” or “dapper”? The answer is to find affordable one-of-a-kind fashionable clothing, and there’s no better place to find this than through independent and unknown designers as well as vintage and thrift stores. |

But with “fashion” as the events theme of choice the second time around, this “Cool Careers for Me!” event pulled out the red carpet and stopped at nothing to ensure a fun, entertaining and educational event for its special guests. |

Hopping on the bandwagon is a good thing for a change. In this hybrid, composting and tofu-eating day in age it’s no surprise to see the fashion industry hop on board in order to save dear old Mother Earth. Fashionistas of the world have joined their needles and patterns in an effort to produce eco-friendly clothing. Using organic materials, recycled buttons and re-designing old clothes, fashion designers have begun to snap and cut away in order to help us live lightly on Earth without sacrificing and inch of style. |

It is time to put all doubt to rest. Due to some minor similarities, many “non-indies” and “non-emos”, for lack of a better word, have characterized indie and emo fashion as one. Although both groups wear similar pieces of clothing like the popular “skinny” jeans, nothing can be farther from the truth. But who better to put this confusion to rest than members of each of these scenes? We’ve asked two representatives of each scene to better describe their fashion style and to tell us how they would make the “skinny” jeans a style of their own. |
