The agenda was introduced by West Hollywood city council member John Heilman after numerous reported incidents of violence caused by the venues patrons resulted in police intervention, arrests and hospitalization.

This was anything but the typical battle of the bands competition. Two bands from different musical genres. Two stages facing one another and the audience smacked between both stages serving as the final and only judge. Hosted by the Mexican self-proclaimed reina de la anarcumbia Amandititita, The Red Bull Sound Clash made its first US appearance on September 18th in Los Angeles after receiving international success in Russia, Japan and Hungary. First bands to partake in the US event were Mexican punk-pop band Allison and Los Angeles based Monte Negro whom stepped up to the ring after Panamanian rockers Rabanes were unable to perform.

The SIrensThe punk-rock scene is alive and kicking. And in its’ honor, the Claremont Museum of Art is hosting a multi-medium exhibit to showcase its history. Through performance, film, photography and art, “The Vixen- Female Voices from East L.A. Punk” exhibit provides an overview of the women behind East L.A.’s early 80’s punk scene. Honoring female musicians and celebrating the triumphs of an ongoing struggle, the museum will welcome East L.A.’s punk bands “Go Betty Go” and “The Sirens” to perform at its closing reception. We caught up with “The Sirens” at their last show where we spoke about their honored participation in the event, the hardships of being a female musician in a male-dominated industry and about the women who paved way for up an coming female punk musicians.

The Duke SpiritNothing beats a concert that’s free of charge, unless that concert comes complete with a line that stretches a few blocks from the entrance. Indie 103.1FM is once again presenting their free Los Angeles summer concert series aptly named “Also I Like to Rock” held every Thursday at the Hammer Museum in Westwood near UCLA. This is Indie 103.1 FM’s 3rd year throwing these events, and they seem to draw quite the crowd.
