Art Created For DiscomfortGreg Lukens will admit that his artwork is not meant to be pleasant to our senses. In fact, he "strives for those awkward moments" in life that can make one cringe when analyzing his pieces. In his current solo show at The Conference Room, you'll notice the inspiration for his pieces derived from Norman Rockwell pieces and old Saturday Evening Post covers; mingled with current events. But the way he blends all of those components together is actually quite interesting. Check it out.

Forgotten PaperTarryn Teresa Gallery is pleased to present new work by Los Angeles-based artist Ron Griffin. The exhibition consists of new paintings and never before seen drawings from the artist’s personal collection. Griffin will show paintings and drawings of paper objects scavenged from the Los Angeles Desert. The artist's meticulous process involves using layers of paint in a manner that appears to create the object itself. Definitely mixed media to the max.

Untitled by KurimanzuttoArt LA, the New Los Angeles International Contemporary Art Fair, takes place at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, January 25 - 27 2008. The fair presents 60 top international and Los Angeles based galleries representing an informed cross-section of today's contemporary art trends and directions.
A partnership has been instituted between the fair and the 2008 edition selection committee to help select from the submitted applications. The exhibiting galleries at ART LA are an even balance of established blue chip and emerging galleries, all presenting the most progressive, international art work being produced today. 30 exhibitors hail from the immediate Los Angeles area, 30 are from the rest of the United States and abroad.

Invisible Boy The Fremont Centre Theatre presents Invisible Boy, three short plays adapted from Ray Bradbury's stories, including the well-known "Invisible Boy." Also performed will be "The Pedestrian," and "Bless Me, Father, For I Have Sinned." Two of the plays included in Ray Bradbury’s holiday show at Fremont Centre Theatre have proven so popular, that they’re being brought back in January, adding a third play to make a full evening of theatre.
