The Monk Space Gallery is proud to host the premier photo exhibit of new urban photographer Lia M. Marshall. “Waiting” is an exhibit with more than twenty pieces that according to the artist herself illustrates “the phenomenon of urban abandonment, not just of physical things like couches or televisions, but of people”. The photographs taken for this exhibit were primarily taken in Koreatown, but there’s a certain familiarity to each and every scenario that Marshall introduces us to, that will give you some brain activity. |

Ironing is among the top 5 chores we all hate to do. Unless you’re some kind of Stepford Wife robo freak or you’re stuck in the 50’s, you’ll agree that there’s nothing pleasant and/ or exciting about ironing- let it be clothes, curtains, or lingerie. On “Ironings”, Mung Lar Lam will change the way you see ironing. She took the most boring and obnoxious task and made some interesting art with it- she’s like the Steve Wozniak of fabrics. Just give her some cotton fabric, starch y una plancha, and she will give you back something that will leave you con la boca abierta. |

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art is proud to present one of the largest art exhibits featuring Chicano art. This exhibit includes over 125 pieces which range from paintings, drawings, video, installation, and even performance art. The Chicano movement has sparked a lot of controversy throughout the years, more so among Chicanos- whether you consider your self to be Chicana/Chicano/Latina/Latino/ or simply Mexican American and what not, this is an eye opener one of a kind exhibit. |

If there’s an artist that revolutionized and came to be the face of pop art, that’s Andy Warhol. Whether it was his obsession with Marilyn Monroe, neon colors, or his fixation with Campbell’s soup cans, Andy Warhol undoubtedly became an icon of all things kitsch and pop. Not many knew the other Warhol side which, while still outrageous and bold, it was more toned down and grounded. The Michael Kohn Gallery proudly presents “Photographs”, a collection with over 200 black and white pictures taken by Andy Warhol. |

Unless you’re a rainbow or part of the “rainbow” community you know that life’s never colorful and nothing is ever peaches and crème. Now, if you have a realistic approach to life you might see things, situations and circumstances as either black or white, however you also need to find a balance and explore the gray areas. That’s what this exhibit at the Scion Installation L.A. is all about: exploring both ends of the stick and everything in between. |
