Cinema addicts rejoice!  The 12th Annual City of Lights, City of Angels (COL-COA) French Film Festival is just a coulple of days away.   Founded in 1995, the COL-COA Film Fest is commited yearly to introduce and promote the best current French Cinema in Hollywood and the United States.  COL-COA 2008 runs from April 14-20 at the Directors Guild of America.

GANADORES DEL CÉSAR, 2008

Es el premio que otorga la Academia de cine francésa lo mejor del año. Y los ganadores son:

• Mejor Película: “Le Greine et Le Mulet’.
• Ópera Prima: “Persepolis”.
• Director: Abdellatif Kechiche, “Le Greine et Le Mulet”.
• Actor: Mathieu Amalric, “Le Scaphandre et Le Papillon.
• Actriz: Marion Cotillard, “La Vie en rose”.
• Película Extranjera: “The lives of others”.

"No hard feelings". Después de la amenaza de no realizar la premiación y sólo mencionar los ganadores debido a la huelga de 100 días que los escritores plantaron y la solidaridad de estrellas con el movimiento, comenzaron los trabajos a marchas forzadas para que la celebración fuera lo más fastuosa posible. Se montó una enorme carpa de circo, con la alfombra roja más grande del mundo, donde desfilaron los elefantes, las jirafas, las gacelas y una que otra libélula perdida, además de todas las celebridades que sí fueron nominadas e invitadas. Al final, la velada fue grata y todos se llevaron por lo menos un premio.

My partner Tom and I plan our trips and work schedules around the Oscars.  It’s a tradition we’ve established for ourselves in our almost twelve years of harmonious unity. Mind you, neither one of us are currently in the film business.  I did some consulting work in the early ‘90s for Paramount’s “Sliver” starring Sharon Stone.  And Tom has a dormant acting bug.  This trivia and the fact we live off of Highland Avenue, a seven-minute drive south of The Hollywood and Highland Center, site of the Kodak Theater and the Oscar telecast, is our only real connection to the event.
