If you’re not familiar with the name, don’t fret. Pop Levi is set to become a household artiste. This Brit, now residing in none other than Los Angeles, Califas has been changing indie pop one song at a time. On his first full length album (after several EP’s), Pop Levi makes a hell of a debut. For hipsters and popsters, think Mika on crack. Covering from a range of musical styles, from beginning ‘til end “Never Never Love” will give you a stiff neck from excessive head-bobbing. |

On their debut album they chanted that music was their hot, hot sex. Now for their second album, this Brazilian band stays true to their initial agenda. CSS dismiss the much feared sophomore slump and “Donkey” proves to be yet another score for the band. For this album, CSS improves the sound that brought them to the limelight. The quality is far better than that of “Cansei de Ser Sexy”. Produced by Adriano Cintra and mixed by Mark “Spike” Stent, “Donkey” captures the band’s essence to the max. |

They conquered not only Mexico, Latin America, and the Hispanic music community in the U.S.; they also earned the respect of many music aficionados that usually denigrate anything pop-related. Sticking to the same sound that launched them into electro-pop stardom, Belanova enlisted pretty much the same team for their following album “Fantasía Pop”, which was released some time ago and has spawned a few hits like “Baila Mi Corazón” and “Cada Que…” |

Ever since their 2002 debut album “Bajofondo Tango Club”, this Gustavo Santaolalla project turned heads their way by fusing modern rhythms with Argentinean music- mainly tango and milonga. And while they were compared to Gotan Project, with their sophomore album “Mar Dulce”, Bajofondo not only proves to be more than a one-trick pony, but also makes a name for themselves, making comparisons with Gotan Project and others a thing of the past. |

If there is one Mexican singer/song-writer/producer that has been around for a while in “good standing” is Aleks Syntek. Free of any tabloid drama, baby-mama scandals, and leading a pretty normal (a.k.a. boring) life for a celebrity, Aleks Syntek is perhaps one of the most underrated artists nowadays. In this compilation celebrating his twenty years in the music business, Aleks Syntek shows why he’s still around and why he is considered to be one of Mexico’s finest. |
