“Estuve tocando la batería en dos grupos malísimos pero aun así tocamos en varias fiestas y eventos en salones, por eso comencé a ir a todas las tocadas que podía viendo a los grupos del momento y hasta Avándaro fui a dar”.

Jaime vino de vacaciones a Los Ángeles, California en el 75 y se dedicó a ir a todos los conciertos que pudo viendo a grupos que solo en discos o películas había visto. En esos años era imposible que hubiera ese tipo de espectáculos en México. Cuando El Tri tocó por primera vez en LA, Arturo Castelazo, editor de Rrock Manía (una de las revistas pioneras de rock en México ) le invitó para que le mandara algo escrito de las tocadas a las que iba y así fue como comenzó a escribir notas de conciertos. Fue amigo de Alberto Macias y de Miguel Ángel Rodríguez de La Opinión, los dos fallecidos, y en varias ocasiones era él quien tomaba las fotos o les decía mas o menos como estuvo la tocada a la que no pudieron asistir, principalmente a Miguel Ángel Rodríguez que ya empezaba a sentir los estragos de su enfermedad. Fue él quien le motivó para que comenzara una columna que durante varios años fue la única semanal en el periódico " El Águila " . Jaime Gallardo también fue el encargado del club de fans de El Tri desde 1994. Ahora y gracias a la invitación de Jesús "Pelos " Olvera es parte de los writers/contributors de " Al Borde ".

Gallardo was born in Torreón, Coahuila on June 4, 1953. At the age of 5, his father’s job forced the family to relocate to the Mexican capital. There, he finished elementary, junior high, and high school. He gave up education altogether in order to pursue a career as a professional soccer player until, at the age of 17, he realized that what he liked best was music. “I played the drums in two bands that had very little talent, but we still managed to score several parties and formal events. That’s why I started to attend every concert I could, in order to catch as many current live acts as possible; I even made it to Avándaro.” Jaime came to Los Angeles, California on vacation in 1975 and attended plenty of concerts to check out groups whose music he had only listened to in albums or movies. At that time, it was impossible for these shows to take place in Mexico.

When El Tri played for the first time in LA, Arturo Castelazo, editor of Rock Manía (one of the pioneer rock magazines in Mexico) asked him to write and send him something about the concerts he attended, which eventually became the beginning his concert reviews. He became friends with Alberto Macias and Miguel Angel Rodriguez from La Opinión. Sometimes he would take pictures or would tell them about the concerts they missed. He was motivated by Miguel Angel Rodriguez to begin writing an article that for several years was the only regular feature contained in the magazine El Aguila. Jaime Gallardo was also in charge of El Tri’s fan club since 1994. Now, thanks to Jesus “Pelos” Olvera’s invitation, he is part of the writing/contributing team of Al Borde.
